her şeyi “pembe” yaşamayı tercih ederek atlatmıştı. Zarafeti, güzelliği ve asaletiyle kitaplara konu, stiliyle tüm
dünya için bir moda ikonu oldu. Yaşamı boyunca yüzünden eksik etmediği sıcacık gülümsemesiyle “aşkın
ülkesi” olarak tanımladığı kalpleri ısıttı; sevgi için uzanan elleriyle, yardımına ihtiyaç duyan insanların hayatlarına
dokundu.

Nothing could be impossible if she said it was possible. For she has faced pain and fear at a very early age and got
through it by choosing to live “pink”. She became a fashion icon with her grace, beauty and noblesse, and her style
that became a subject for many books. She warmed the hearts that she called “the country of love” with her ever-
present smile; she touched many lives with her hands that reach out with love.
Zarafet onun, yalnızca

kadın” imajını; masumiyeti,
duru güzelliği ve çocuksu
ifadesiyle yerle bir etti Audrey
Hepburn. Belki de doya
doya yaşayamadığı, savaş,
yokluk ve hastalıklarla geçen
çocukluğu onun peşini hiç

an angel who tried to paint life
pink for herself and the people
around her, seeing something
positive in every hardship she
faced, every bad experience. She
was actually one of the miracles
she kept on believing until the
day she died and a Goodwill
Ambassador for the UNICEF.
Her child eyes, her indescribable
beauty, her good faith and
innocence despite all make the
nickname “angel without wings”
a perfect definition for her. Her
birth name was Audrey Kathleen
Ruston and she filled all her life
with love in spite of the destitution
and wounds of her past.

in me. But I had to grow up
before my age because I
was introduced to pain and
suffering at a very early
age. ”
In her own words, what
differentiated her from the other
stars of her time was that she was
“skinny legged and flat chested
like a little girl”. Audrey Hepburn
shattered the image of “sassy,
lusty and busty, long-legged,
sexy and hot woman” with her
innocence and clear beauty. Her
childhood, incomplete because
of war, poverty, and illnesses,
never left her. She was born as
the daughter of a Dutch baroness
and an English banker in
Brussels in 1929. Before she felt
the warmth of a family, her father
left them when she was one, and
her mother re-married. Living with
her mother, the disinterest of her
father always made Audrey feel
as if something was missing from
her life. The concept of mistrust
entered her life during these
years. Immigrating to Holland
after the Nazi invasion and the
poverty under the Nazi rule led
her to struggle with even more
illnesses in her childhood. She
grew up right in the middle of war
till her teen years. Audrey and
her family fought to survive with
the help of UNESCO, where she
would later become a goodwill
ambassador. She lived her life
with the grace of a ballerina,
though she never achieved her
childhood dream of becoming
a prima donna, she received
training in the midst of war, but
her sickness-ridden body did
not let her. Audrey and her family
were left in poverty after the war
but their devotion to life and
hope for the future was reason
