bazen yerine geçmek
istediği iki adam Don Juan
ve Casanova. Büyük bir
aileden gelen, uzun bir hayat
hikâyesine sahip ve çok yönlü
olduğu kadar çok kadınlı da
olmayı tercih eden Giacomo
Giralomo Casanova’ya
karşı; çocukluktan gelme bir
kompleksle tüm kadınlara
düşman, intikamını ise
“kadınların kalplerini çalıp,
kırarak” almasıyla bilinen,
kurgusal bir efsane Don
Juan… Don Juan’ın belirlediği
hedefi olan kadını elde ettikten
sonra bir daha görmek
istememesine rağmen,
birlikte olduğu yüzlerce
kadının hayatından çıkmayıp,
onlarla dost kalmayı başaran
Casanova… Biri tamamen
gerçek diğeri bazı eserlerde
geçen karakterlerden
esinlenilerek yaratılmış olan bu
iki adam her zaman birbirine
karıştırılsa da aradaki büyük
farklar aslında çok belli. Asıl
sorun ise hangi özellikleriyle
birbirlerinden ayrıldıkları
değil, hangisinin daha “haklı”
olduğu…
Kadına bir tür sanat eseri
gözüyle bakan, estetiğine ve
zarafetine hayran olan; güzel
olan her şeyle ilgilenmekle
yetinmeyerek sahibi de olmak
isteyen bir gönül avcısı Don
Juan… Bazı erkeklerin idol
olarak seçtiği hayali adam
Don Juan Tenorio tam adıyla,
İspanya’nın köklü ailelerinden
gelen bir asilzade olduğu
da söyleniyor; 17. yüzyılda
İspanyol yazar Tirso de
Molina tarafından “Sevillalı
Kadın Avcısı” oyununda
yaratılan bir karakter olduğu
da. Edebiyattaki bu en muzip
karakter hakkında anlatılan
efsaneye göre, soylu bir
genç kızı baştan çıkarıp
babasını öldürüyor. Daha
sonra babanın mezarına
gelerek heykelini yemeğe
davet etme küstahlığına

want to be, while men aspire to
live -or sometimes to end- their
lives like. Giacomo Giralomo
Casanova who came from a
large family, had a long life
story and preferred to be with
‘multiple-women’ as much as
he was multifaceted versus Don
Juan, a fictional legend, known
for taking vengeance from
women, who was considered
to be hostile because of his
childhood complex, by “stealing
women’s hearts and breaking
them later on”... Contrary to Don
Juan’s goal to conquer women’s’
hearts and to never see their
face again once he is done with
them, Casanova did not get the
women he had been with out of
his life and succeeded in staying
friends with them. Despite the
fact that these two men, one
fictional man created from the
inspiration taken from various
works and an actual human
being, are commonly mistaken
for each other, the differences
they have are in fact quite
obvious. What really matters
however is not their respective
traits that distinguish one from
other, but the point which one is
more “right”...
Don Juan is a heartbreaker that
sees women as a work of art,
admiring their aesthetic and
grace, yet does not confine
himself with only being attracted
to the beauty but also desires
to conquer and own it... It is
told that the fictional Don Juan
Tenorio, who some men chose
as their idol, is a nobleman
from one of the well-established
families in Spain; as well as
being mentioned as a character
inspired from Triso de Molina’s
play “The Trickster of Seville and
the Stone Guest”. According to
the tale told concerning this most
mischievous character in the
literature, he dishonors a noble
young girl and kills her father
who rushed sword in hand in to
her daughter’s aid . On the face
of Don Juan’s later insolence to
visit the deceased father’s grave
and invite his sculpture to dinner,
the ghost of the father finds voice
and accepts the invitation. Just
as they were to shake hands,
the ghost firmly grabs Don
Juan’s wrist and drags him down
to the endless depths of hell.
