göz açıp kapayıncaya kadar
Belgrad sokaklarında bulmanız

Para hesabı da oldukça
kolay: 1 euro yaklaşık 100
dinar civarında. Sırbistan

İki sıfırı atıp Euro cinsinden
düşünmek pratik olabilir.

careful with money, you can buy
a ticket for 60 Dinar for the bus

Evidently, in Serbia they speak
Serbian, but everyone, including
the taxi drivers, speaks English
well enough to get by. Even this
is reason enough for choosing
this city. To compare, it might
be problematic to find English
speaking people in the former-
socialist regions like Kiev of
Tbilisi. Other than that, the city is
quite like these cities I mentioned
in terms of Cyrillic alphabet, the
outdated clothing style of the old
generation, the architecture of
the city, the way the restoration
has delayed, the mass housing,
the public transportation
vehicles, general attitude of the
people and atmosphere. But it
also has a European stance to it,
a western style. If you consider
the 420 years of Ottoman
presence and this fact that might
be traced even in small details as
topping, we can easily say that it
is neither a Western Bloc country
nor a classic European city.
Belgrade is founded in the point
where the rivers Danube and
Sava meet, to be more exact,
where Sava joins the Danube.
As they joined, they granted 16
islands of various sized to this
lovely geography. Since this
is the case, the rivers are all
around. It feels more like coastal
city, not a land one. Besides, the
island Ciganlija on the course
of Sava River, where it widens,
is not much less than a beach.
The old town Centar Grada
and the newly inhabited areas,
Novi Beograd, is separated by
the Sava River. Apart from the
Zemun region on the north of the
Novi Beograd, what we are most
interested in is the downtown,
Centar Grada.
That is why it is best to opt for
the Centar Grada when you look
for a place to stay. Though the
Terazije region is the best option,
keep in mind that the distances
are short and chose one that fits
your budget. Here we need to
open a parenthesis for the Hotel
Moskva. This historical hotel
overlooking the Terazij square;
with its location, architecture,
historical qualities, and the
significant guests it has hosted
over the years, such as Einstein,
