biraz ilerisinde ise meşhur Taş
Meydan yani Tasmajdan ve
yanı başında arz-ı endam eden
Aziz Mark Kilisesi. Kiremit rengi
tuğla yapısı ve mimarisiyle
dikkati çeken kilise dünya
savaşlarında aldığı hasarlar
sonrası yeniden inşa edilerek
son şeklini almış. Taşmeydan
iyi hoş tamam ama sizi şehrin
bu bölgesine yönlendirmekteki
amacım başka. Sıradaki
durağımız Nikola Tesla Müzesi.
Belgrad’a kadar gelmişken
insanlık tarihinin bu önemli
mucidine saygı duruşu
yapmadan dönmek olmaz.
Günümüz teknolojisinin
ulaştığını noktaya belki de
en büyük katkıyı yapmış
olan, aslında dünyadaki
bilim ve teknoloji yapısını
tam anlamıyla ‘kökünden’
değiştirebilecek birçok
‘kullanılan ve kullanılmayan’
deneye/buluşa da imza atan
mucit Tesla, Sırp asıllı ve
müzesinin de Belgrad’da
olmasını istemiş. Henüz
tanışmamış olan ya da sadece
ismi aşina gelenlerin 700’den
fazla patentli buluşu olan
bu dehaya yazıyı bitirdikten
sonra biraz vakit ayırmasını
öneririm. Elektriği alternatif

tours are held all year round in
Serbian or English. Starting at the
Republic Square, they generally
last around 2-3 hours. The tours
and guiding is free of charge. But
anyhow, I think you need to make
it worth their while.
The night life in Belgrade is, with
one word, awesome. It is the
best. As is the case in some other
cities that has gone through war,
like Beirut. Outside Stari Grad,
the coast of Usce; Splavovi and
near Kalemegdan; Beton Hala
are regions where bars and clubs
are centered. Prices for drinks
and dinner cheaper relative to
Turkey. The traditional drink is a
hard liquor called rakı, made from
fruits. It is served in shot glasses
with a side of water. Are there not
any disadvantages of the night
life in Belgrade? Of course there
are. Ok the prices are reasonable
but unfortunately smoking is
allowed everywhere. Also, taxis
charge double after 22:00 and
triple after 24:00, but still I could
say it is reasonable. By the way,
I would like to remind you that
famous bands and musicians
always add Belgrade on their
European Tours, so planning
the trip accordingly could be an
added bonus.
Now let’s get to the food. My best
experience in Belgrade were the
“Pekara”, the bakeries. Go to
any pekara for breakfast, get rid
of the calorie counters, and eat
whatever savory of sweet treat
your heart desires. You won’t get
enough, I promise. As for lunches
and dinners… Serbian cuisine
is one of the Balkan cuisines
and fairly heterogeneous. As a
result of co-habiting for years, it
is possible to see many Turkish
foods. Sarma (stuffed grape
leaves), kebab, casseroles
(đuveć-pronounced as guvech),
baklava, salty pastries (burek).
The names are similar to their
Turkish counterparts. These are
not the only ones, you cannot
undo 500 years of history, and
Serbian words for marble, cotton,
loaf, and duvet are all the same in
Turkish and many more…
