Aşkına aklını feda etmiş bir kadın
A woman who lost her sanity for love
Bursalıların, aşk denince aklına
ilk gelen isimlerden biri belki
de “Deli Ayten.” Çocukken
ağır hastalıklarla boğuştu,
ölümlerden döndü de bir aşk
belini büktü Ayten’in. Geç
kavuştuğu erken kaybettiği ilk
ve son aşkı Cümbüş Hasan’ın
ölümünden sonra, dolaştı
durdu Bursa sokaklarında.
Ondan hatıra kalan cümbüşü,
davulu, onun hediyesi çantaları
taktı boynuna; son nefesine
kadar acısını, kederini,
neşesini, anılarını, aşkını
paylaştı Bursalılarla. Onu
bilmeyenler de öğrensin diye
heykeli dikildi, hayat hikâyesi
tiyatro sahnelerine taşındı. Kent
Müzesi’nde bir köşe bile verildi
ona. Ne “deli” deyip geçildi,
ne de ölünce unutuldu Ayten
Şenaşık. Biraz hüzünlendiren,
biraz gülümseten hatırasıyla,
aşkına aklını feda etmiş bir
kadın; Bursa’da aşkın en deli
simgesi hâlâ...
One of the first names that pops
into the minds of the people of
Bursa is probably “Crazy Ayten”.
She struggled serious diseases
when she was a child, almost
died but love was the only thing
that rendered her helpless.
She ended up wandering in the
streets of Bursa after the death
of her fist and last love, Cümbüş
Hasan (he played the jamboree,
which means cümbüş in Turkish).
She hung around her neck his
jamboree, bags he gave her as a
gift, she shared her pain, misery,
joy, her memories, her love with
the citizens of Bursa until the last
day of her life. Her statue was
erected so everyone would know
her, her life story became the plot
of a play. She even had corner
at the Bursa City Museum. Ayten
Şenaşık was neither called simply
“insane” nor forgotten after her
death. With her bitter-sweet
memory, a woman who lost her
sanity for love; still the craziest
symbol of love in Bursa...
