evimiz var. Bursa’ya geldikçe
mutlaka oraya da uğruyor,
anılarımı tazeliyorum. İşim
gereği çok seyahat ettiğim için
fırsat bulmak kolay olmuyor ama
olabildiği kadar yaratıyorum.
Bursa’da sahne alma fırsatım da
çok oluyor. Bu sayede Bursa’da
caz adına önemli bir hareketlilik
olduğunu da söyleyebilirim ve
bu beni çok mutlu ediyor.
Türkiye’de caz müziği
adına özellikle son
yıllarda ciddi bir
hareketlenme var.
Bursa’da bu ilgiden payını
alıyor. Siz bu konuda ne
düşünüyorsunuz?
Caza karşı bir ilgi olduğu
doğru. Bu ilginin her geçen
gün, yapılan her etkinlikle,
organizasyonla daha da arttığını
gözlemliyorum. Hatta Bursalıları
caz müziğiyle buluşturan,
bu konuda büyük ve ciddi
bir adım atan mekânlar var.
Bu çok önemli bir gelişme
bana göre. Ben büyük konser
salonlarını, özel projelerde yer
almayı seviyorum ama fırsat
bulduğumda Bursalılarla bu
mekânlarda buluşmak da bir
Bursalı olarak bana mutluluk
veriyor.
Bursa’da bu yıl ilki
gerçekleştirilen
Uluslararası Caz Festivali
hakkındaki görüşlerinizi
alabilir miyiz?
Duyar duymaz heyecanlandığım
ve içinde olmaktan gurur
duyduğum bir festival bu.
Daha da ötesi gösterilen
ilgi. Öğrendiğim kadarıyla
program açıklanır açıklanmaz
çok kısa bir süre içinde tüm
biletler neredeyse tükenmiş.
Ferit Odman Quartet olarak
Türkiye’nin caz efsanelerinden
Engin Recepoğulları (saksafon),
Ercüment Orkut (piyano)
ve Kağan Yıldız (kontrbas)
ile sahne aldığımız gecede
salon tamamen doluydu. Caz
müziğine olan bu ilgi bizim
için çok sevindirici ve Bursa
adına büyük bir mutluluk.
Özellikle bu yıl Bursa’da caz
hareketlenmeye, ilgi görmeye
başladı ve bu festival de
bu durumun kanıtı. İçinde
olmaktan, öncelikle bir Bursalı
olarak onur duyuyorum.
Umuyorum ve inanıyorum
ki bu festival uzun yıllar
sürecek ve her yıl daha da
büyüyen bir organizasyona
dönüşecek. Gördüğü ilgi
artacak ve Bursa’da cazın
interest. What do you think
about this?
It is true that there is an interest
in jazz music. I can observe
that this interest continues to
increase with every activity and
organization. There are even
venues where locals of Bursa
can meet with jazz music. I
believe this is a very important
development. I like large concert
halls and to take part in special
projects, however as someone
from Bursa, it also makes me
happy to meet with the locals of
Bursa at these venues whenever
I can find the opportunity.
What are your opinions
about the first International
Jazz Festival that took
place at Bursa this year?
This is a festival that got me
excited as soon as I heard it
and one that I feel proud to be
a part of. Moreover, the interest
to the organization is striking.
As far as I know, all tickets were
sold out in a very short time
following the announcement
of the program. The concert
hall was packed on the night
when we as the Ferit Odman
Quartet took stage with jazz
legends of Turkey such as Engin
Recepoğulları (saxophone),
Ercüment Orkut (piano) and
Kağan Yıldız (contrabass). This
interest to jazz music makes us
very happy and it is especially a
joy for Bursa. Jazz started to pick
up and attract attention in Bursa
especially during this year and
the festival is proof of this. I am
proud to be a part of it as a local
of Bursa. I hope and believe that
the festival will continue for many
years to come and will transform
into a continuously growing
organization. The interest to the
festival will increase and the spirit
of jazz will be heard all around
Bursa. I believe that jazz music
and musicians will attract the
attention they deserve thanks to
this festival that has no aim but to
bring jazz music and the locals of
Bursa together.
Finally, do you have a
special message to jazz
musicians who follow your
foot steps and the music
lovers who appreciate jazz
music?
They should continue. They
should go relentlessly, tirelessly
and fearlessly wherever jazz
takes them to. They should follow
the footsteps of the legendary
names in jazz who showed us
the way. They should never give
up listening to jazz and they
should follow the concerts and
albums of the musicians they
like. They should never leave
them alone and never give up
supporting them so that jazz
music can reach the place it
deserves in Turkey and in Bursa.
