yılında restore edildikten sonra
gördüğü ilgi daha da arttı.

gemilerden vergi alınma
amacıyla da kullanılan
kule, gemilerin geçişi için

Tower shines like a diamond on
an island off the shore Salacak in
Istanbul… Its current appearance
dates back to the reign of Fatih
and it is the most epic symbol
of the city. The Maiden’s Tower
can be reached by boats from
Salacak and Ortaköy and interest
in the tower has increased even
further following the restoration

The tower was also used to
collect taxes from ships passing
through the strait but had
collapsed under the weight of the
chain drawn between the tower
and the European Side. Some
European historians use the
name of, “Leander Tower” and
the history of this tower located
on a small island is enriched by
the many legends told about it.
