in the world. Over the bascule
bridge, which was raised and
lowered with the steam-operated
machinery until 1976, not only the
cars but also the pedestrians can
pass for free, but the elevated part
has a fee. At the small theatre on
the top floor of the Tower Bridge
with a short fim; in the custody
of Her Majesty the Queen, the
building story is told by the
architecture and the engineer of
the structure in his own words.
The upper bridge which is like
a closed and sheltered corridor
offers a picturesque view of
effective London. And of course
its view from outside is also
very beautiful. You are in front
of another perfectly suited place
for a veni vidi vici themed profile
photo. Do not miss it.
When you follow this trail, you
will miss the five o’clock tea
near Tower Bridge and it must
be the end of the day. I seem to
hear you saying “We came to
London, made all that way, but
still could not make into it”. It is
time to head towards the heart of
the night life. We go to Piccadily
Circus underground station with
a transfer line from Tower Hill.
Here you will realize that at the
stairs in the exit of the station
where people walking in front of
you are mesmerized, looking at
sparkling lights.The reason of
the short term a light seen rabbit
effect is the gigantic lighted
billboard in the circus. You are
with thousands of tourists from
thousands of nations. (I have
mentioned that London hosts
approxiametly 15 million tourists
a year, haven’t I?) Fulfill another
ritual and also have your picture
taken under the billboard lights in
the circus, in front of the fountain
with a statue of Eros at the top.
What do you have to lose? Take
your map. If you are lost, just
copy from the Japanese tourist
next to you. Our targets is the
area between Piccadily Circus,
Leicester Square, Oxford Circus
and Tottenham Court Road
underground station: Soho, in
other words Beyoglu of London.
This extremely colorful area which
does not lose its spirit 24 hours
and immediate surroundings
Leicester Square and Piccadily
Circus are the center of
London social life. Cafes, pubs,
restaurants, stores, boutiques,
cinemas, theatres where world
famous musicals are performed,
Carnaby the shopping Street
closed to traffic, a phenomenon
on its own China Town that is a
district of China also are located
in this area. You are at the right
place for dinner. Since it is not
possible to advice something
of English cuisine, you have to
please yourself to your taste.
Italian, French, Turkish, Lebanese,
Pakistani, Indian, Greek, Far East
Asian, Middle Eastern, or fast
food restaurants, possible to find
whatever you want. What did I
say? We are in the capital city of
the world.
While you are in England, it is
good to spare sometime for one
of those musicals in theatres
which compete in fame with
Broadway. I am talking about
a long list of shows in tens of
various theatres, a never ending
interest and audience. The Book
of Mormon, The Bodyguard, Billy
Elliot, Dirty Dancing, Singin’in
The Rain, Les Miserables, Let it
Be, The Lion King, Mamma Mia,
Phantom of The Opera, We Will
Rock You and many more…
There is such an intense demand
that in order to find tickets for
some of them, you need to make
reservations months in advance:
-You will
not be sorry. Valuable information,
Spread it, retweet!
As you have started visualizing
the musical you have choosen,
after controlling the pages I have
written, I have realized that I
have already filled up the space
given to me for this issue and if
I continue, I will be unfair to the
rest of the things to mention, my
dear readers. As I mentioned
before, it is not easy to write about
London. When a talkative writer
like me is of concern, it was not
easy to put everything into words
in one piece. I tried to keep this
brief, but apparently I was not very
successful. I ask for forgiveness
and so as to resume in the next
issue, I am leaving the rest to the
next writer.
See you soon!
