demekti. Batı hayranı mimarlar,
yöneticiler dönemlerinin
etkisiyle külliyeyi yenilediklerini
düşünseler de aslında
buradaki kalemişlerini, örneği
dünyanın çok az yerinde
görülebilecek motifleri,
desenleri, işçilikleri 150 yıl
boyunca esaret altına alacak
bir tahribat yapmış oldular.
2012 yılında Bursa Büyükşehir
Belediyesi tarafından başlatılan
kapsamlı çalışmada buradaki
süslü sıvanın hareketli olduğu
fark edilmesiyle kalemişlerinin
bu esareti sona erdi. Böylece
manevi bir mirası yeniden
canlandırmak için başlanan
restorasyon çalışmaları,
bu mirasın orijinal haliyle
geleceğe taşınmasını sağladı.

sahnede…
Özellikle son zamanlarda
televizyon dizilerinde sıkça
duyduğumuz, sürekli karşımıza
çıkan isimlerin varlığı Muradiye
Külliyesi’nin popüler kültürden
de nasibini almasını sağladı.
Türkiye’nin dört bir yanından
akın akın gelen insanlar,
ekranlarda farklı yüzlerle hayat
bulan sultanların, şehzadelerin
bıraktığı izleri takip etmeye
başladılar. Tüm izler onları
Bursa’ya, beyazcamda
nasıl öldürüldüğünü görüp
gözyaşlarına boğuldukları
Şehzade Mustafa’nın, Hürrem
Sultan ile kavgalarına şahit
oldukları belki de bir kısmının
haklı bulduğu Mahidevran
Sultan’ın da yattığı Muradiye
Külliyesi’ne getirdi. Yapılan
yenilemelerle eski görünümüne
belki de ilk günlerdeki
canlılığına kavuşan Muradiye
Külliyesi, popüler kültürün
etkisiyle de olsa yüzünü kendi
tarihine, geçmişine, atalarına
dönen insanlara bambaşka
bir dünyanın kapılarını açıyor.
Geçmiş ve gelecek, bu dünya
ve öteki dünya arasında bir
köprü kurarken ziyaretçilerine
“sabrın acı meyve”sinden
tattırmayı başarıyor.
mentioned restoration fell victim
to modernism, popular at the
time. The meticulous hand-
carvings, tiling and genuine
patterns were covered with lime
and paint. After many years,
the sleeves were rolled up for
reanimation and the wonders,
hidden beneath the whitewash
and lime for 550 years, came
to daylight. The restoration
during late 19th century sought
compliance with the trends of the
day; consequently, many original
motifs left for baroque patterns
under European influence.
Pro-western architectures and
rulers thought they renewed the
complex; nevertheless, they
actually caused a degradation
that would hold these rare motifs,
patterns and handicrafts captive
for 150 years. In 2012, Bursa
Metropolitan Municipality started
a comprehensive research.
During the restoration works, it
was found out that the ornate
plaster is moving, whereupon
the hand-carvings were explored
and saved from captivity. Thus,
the restoration works, which
began to reanimate a cultural
heritage, enabled carrying this
heritage into future in its original
form.
Historical personalities
back on the stage…
Popular culture reached in
Muradiye Complex thanks to
recent TV series, since the
historical personalities are now
more talked about than ever.
Visitors from all around Turkey
began to follow the traces
of sultans and princes who
are depicted on the screen.
These traces brought them to
Muradiye Complex in Bursa, to
the presence of Prince Mustafa,
whose assassination moved TV
audiences to tears, as well as to
see Mahidevran Sultan, whose
disputes with Hürrem Sultan
created supporters for both
parties. After the restoration,
Muradiye Complex regained its
original look and vivacity. Now,
the complex opens the gates of
a different world to people who
are once again interested in
their history, past and ancestors,
albeit through popular culture.
The Complex establishes
a bridge between past and
present, this and next world, and
makes the guests taste the “bitter
fruit of sorrow.”
