“Güzel” bir yıl
A “good” year
Kültürümüzde yapay sebepler yaratıp eğlenmek yerine, bir neden etrafında toplanıp eğlenmek makbuldür, kısa
sürede alıştığımız yılbaşı kutlamaları buna güzel bir örnek. Aslında bizim arzumuz “güzel bir yıl.” Umutluyuz,
yeni yıldan çok şey bekliyoruz. Bu yüzden “yılbaşını” da kutlamayı severiz biz…
In our culture, we prefer to gather for a purpose to have fun, not just for the sake of it. New Year celebrations that we
were so quick to adopt are an example to this. All we hope for is a “good year”. We are filled with hope, expecting a lot
from the New Year. This is why we love celebrating the “beginning of the year”…
Yılbaşı heyecan ile birlikte
anılan sözcüklerden
sadece bir tanesi. Yeni yılla
birlikte umutlar, hayaller ve
gerçekleşmesi beklenenler
var. O heyecanın içerisinde
geleceğe yönelik bilinmezliğin
vermiş olduğu merak ve
sabırsızlık da var. Bir “temenni”
günü aslında… Herkes iyi
dileklerle sunuyor yeni yılı
birbirine. Geride kalanları
kimse düşünmek istemiyor.
Hayal kırıklıkları, başarısızlıklar,
üzücü olaylar arka plana
itiliyor. Herkes yeni yıla “güzel”
girmek istiyor. Yeni yıla “güzel”
girmek elbette ki kişisine göre
değişecektir. Kimisi için yeni
yıla “güzel” girmek; ailesi
ile birlikte “güzel” bir pasta
eşliğinde tombala oynamaktır,
kimisi için “güzel” bir gece
kulübüne gidip, yeni yıla
kafa “güzel” girmektir. Tabi
yeni yıldan farklı “güzel”likler
bekleyenler de vardır. Yeni
yıla bakımlı ve şık girerek yeni
gelen yılın güzel geçeceğine
inananlar… PTT (pijama, terlik,
televizyon) tercihi kullananlar
için ise yeni yılın tanımı
“sefa”dır.
dergi bursa’nın bu sayısı yılbaşı
kadar içimizi ısıtan bir temaya
sahip: ateş. Hazırlarken içimizi
dışımızı sıcacık yapan bu
sayıda: hep beraber evrensel
bir “ateş turu” atıyoruz.
Ateşin kızı Buika’nın dumanlı
sesinin eşliğinde, hayata
tutunan bir mucize isme, Frida
Kahlo’ya misafir oluyoruz.
Kutlamaların baş tacı havai
fişeklerin ışıltısında şömine
kenarında geceyi dinleyip onu
ateşböcekleri ile aydınlatıyoruz.
Prometheus’un ateşli
hikayesi ile olimpiyat ateşinin
gizemine koşuyoruz. Oradan
Antalya Çıralı’daki doğa
mucizesi Yanartaş’a konuk
oluyoruz. Ateşli bir İspanyol
şehri olan Sevilla da yurt
dışındaki rotamız. Yılbaşının
kahramanları da elbette ki
konuk listemizin en başında
yer alıyorlar. Özellikle de ilk kez
bizim topraklarımızda ortaya
çıkmış olan Aziz Nikolaos.
Ama tüm bu konuların üzerine
yine Bursa’dan su serpiyoruz.
Bursa’da daha önce pek
açılmamış bir dosyayı aralayıp
Bursa tulumbacılarına
kulak veriyor, hararet yapan
sayfalarımızı serinletiyoruz.
Bursa yangınlarını hatırlıyoruz.
Değerli yazarlarımızla ateşi
farklı açılardan tanıyoruz.
Güzel ve yeni bir yıl diliyorum
size, hiç beklemediğiniz.
New Year is one of the words
associated with excitement.
Along with the New Year, hopes,
dreams, and wishes are expected
to be realized. The exhilaration
comes with the curiosity and the
impatience of the unknown. It is
a day of “wishing”… Everybody
wishes well for each other. No
one wants to think of the things
left behind. Disappointments,
failures, unpleasant events are all
swept under the rug. Everyone
wants to enter the New Year
“good”. The definition of good is
evidently different for everyone.
For some it is with family, having
cake, playing bingo; for some
it is going to a nice bar and
getting a “good” buzz. There
are the ones who expect other
“goodness” from the New Year.
We believe that the way ypu enter
the new year indicates how you
will spend the rest of the year,
so try to be at our best-self that
day… The definition of the New
Year is “leisure” for the one opting
for PST (Pyjamas, slippers, and
TV)…
This issue of dergi bursa has a
theme to keep you warm until
the New Year: Fire. We take a
universal “tour of fire” with this
issue heating our hearts. We
become a guest in the life of
Frida Kahlo, the miracle who
did not give up, while listening
to the smoky voice of Buika, the
daughter of fire. We listen to the
night by the fireplace under the
blaze of fireworks, the primary
of component celebrations and
light it with fireflies. We run to the
mystery of the Olympic flame with
the fiery story of Prometheus.
Then, we stroll to Yanartaş (the
flaming rock) in Antalya-Çıralı, a
natural wonder. Seville, a flaming
city in Europe, is our itinerary
abroad. The leading actors of the
New Year are among our guests;
primarily Saint Nicholas who
actually lived on our lands. On
top of it all, we spray water from
within Bursa. We lend an ear to
the not-much-heard story of the
Tulumbacı of Bursa, and cool our
feverish pages. We remember the
infamous fires in Bursa. We look
at fire from a lot of perspectives
thanks to our esteemed authors.
I wish you all a good and a
new year, one you have never
expected. I wish you accomplish
things that you would not dare
even try. If you have watched the
movie “A Good Year” you might
know; life is full of surprises. Who
knows, maybe your life will take
an unexpected turn for the better.
Keep the hope alive. Happy New
Year…
* Max Skinner, struggling with a stressful and
busy but very successful work life in London,
goes to Provence to sell the vineyard he
inherited from his uncle. However, this sale
would not go smoothly, as planned. An
American woman calming the vineyard will
annoy him at first but in time will make him
see that he has been having the time of life.
These are the beginning of “good” days to
come.
