Her an için bir beste yapıyorlardı; “The Show Must Go On” ile yaşam felsefelerinin en dramatik eserlerinden bir tanesine imza attılar. Tam bir yıl sonra John Deacon’un da katılımıyla grup tamamlanmıştı. Amaçları The Who, Led Zeppelin ve Jimi Hendrix karışımı bir müzik ortaya çıkarmaktı. Sahne şovları onlar için çok önemliydi. Nitekim Queen zamanının en iyi sahne performanslarını veren gruplarından bir tanesiydi. Bir tek Amerikalı eleştirmenlere kendilerini beğendiremediler. Anlamsız bir şekilde Amerikalı eleştirmenler tarafından önemsenmediler. Ama o dönemde Amerika’da en çok satılan albümler de yine Queen’e aitti. Dünya çapında 300 milyon adet sattıkları albümlerinin 35.5 milyonu ABD’de satılmıştı… Arena Rock, Glam Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Pop Rock ve daha nice müzik türlerine çok büyük katkılarda bulundular. Queen için sahne şovu her şeyden önemliydi. Dar kıyafetler, topuklu ayakkabılar, aşırı makyaj, Queen’in sahnedeki performansını görsellikle de destekliyordu. The group was completed one year later when John Deacon joined them. Their aim was to make music blending The Who, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. Stage shows were very important for them. Indeed, Queen was one of the groups with the best live performances ever. They only failed to receive praise from American critics. For some reason, American critics did not give them credit. But still, Queen had the highest selling records in America during that time. About 35.5 million of their albums that sold over 300 million copies worldwide were sold in the USA… They made significant contributions to many different musical genres such as Arena Rock, Glam Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Pop Rock and much more. Stage shows were more important than everything for Queen. Tight clothes, high heeled shoes, excessive makeups visually supported the live performance of Queen on stage. Contrary to the groups that did not pay attention to onstage clothing, Queen aimed to make an innovation and a difference in this area. Freddie Mercury attracted great attention when he wore the dress designed especially for the 1970 concert at Imperial College. This black costume designed as a single piece was very tight and it left the torso wide open. One of the most dramatic events for Queen and world music in general was the death of Freddy Mercury. Mercury, born on September 5, 1946 to a family of Persian origin at Zanzibar, an English colony in the past that is now a part of Tanzania and passed away on November 24 in London two days after announcing that he has AIDS to the press and the public in 1991.
