Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı’nın izni ile 2006 yılında Uludağ Üniversitesi adına Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şahin başkanlığında yapılan yüzey araştırmasında Yaylacık Köyü’nde, köy kahvesinin bahçesinde tespit edilen bir mermer heykel kaidesinin üzerinde bir yazıt tespit edilmiştir. Yıllar önce “Kocatarla” mevkiinde bulunarak köye getirilen kaideyle ilgili yapılan kütüphane taramalarında daha önce yörede yüzey araştırması yapan Alman Epigraf Thomas Corsten tarafından yazıtın eski Yunanca’dan Almanca’ya tercüme edilerek yayınlandığı tespit edildi. Corsten bu yörede Roma İmparatoru Caligula tarafından region founded by the Roman Emperor Caligula during the 1st century AD in memory of his father Germanicus, the exact location of which was not known until the date of the publication. The location of the city was indicated as the Kapanca Harbor between Tirilye and Eşkel following the examinations carried out in 2010 by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şahin and Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Savaş Başkaya. The inscription mentioned the name of an athlete who has represented Bursa successfully in many international competitions organized at different cities about 2000 years ago. It was erected to honor the name of “Tatianos son of Metrophanes” an athlete from Bursa. It was indicated in the inscription that Tatianos, son of Metrophanes from among the citizens of the city of Caesareia took part in international competitions and became very successful and that the athlete who is estimated to have lived during the 1st – 3rd centuries AD was granted honorary citizenship from many of the important cities of the ancient world such as Ephesos (Efes), Pergamon (Bergama) Kyzikos (Erdek), Nikomedia (İzmit), Tralleis (Aydın), Neopolis (Yenişehir). There was only one ranking in competitions of the ancient age and that was being first. The only award for those who came first was a wreath made of wild olive branches. The most important award for the young people was the interest and kindness they received from their own citizens when they returned home. They returned home on a cerenomial vehicle known as quadrika (a cart pulled by four horses). They were included in the city protocol and were exempted from all taxes.
