39 A king named Athamas lived in the lands of Boiotia (Thebotia). King Athamas was the son of Aiolos, God of Wind. When the woman named Leukothe transformed into a sea goddess by the gods of Olympos became the king’s wife, she took on the name of İno. When İno wanted to sacrifice her two step-children Phriksos and Helle to prove her gratitude to Zeus, the god of Wind and Cloud sent down a Flying Sacred Ram from the heavens. The Flying Sacred Ram had a golden fleece and flew the two siblings out to the skies on its back. Helle fell to the sea as they flew high. The place where she fell down to was named Hellespontus (the Dardanelles Strait). Helle and her brother Phriksos were the children of Athamas, King of Boiotia (Theboiotia) who went mad upon incurring the wrath of Hera. When Phriksos was left alone after his sister Helle fell down to the sea, he sacrificed this sacred Flying Ram to the Chief god Zeus upon reaching the land of Boiotia (Thebotia) topraklarında Athamas adında bir kral yaşıyordu. Kral Athamas Rüzgâr tanrısı Aiolos’un oğluydu. Kralın karısı Olympos tanrıları tarafından deniz tanrıçasına dönüştürülen Leukothe adındaki kadın tanrıça olduğunda, İno adını aldı. İno, Zeus’a minnettarlığını ispatlamak için iki üvey çocuğu olan Phriksos ile Helle’yi Zeus’a kurban etmek isteyince; Rüzgâr ve Bulut tanrısı gökten bir Kanatlı Kutsal Koç gönderdi. Kanatlı Kutsal Koç altın postluydu, iki kardeşi sırtına alıp göklere uçurmuştu. Göklere uçtukları sırada Helle, denize düştü. Düştüğü yere Hellespontus (Çanakkale boğazı) adı verilmişti. Helle ile kardeşi Phriksos, Hera’nın hışmına uğrayarak aklını oynatan Boiotia (Theboiotia) Kralı Athamas’ın çocuklarıydı. Kız kardeşi Helle denize düşünce tek başına kalan Phriksos, Kolkhide topraklarına ulaştığında orada bu kutsal Kanatlı Koçu, Baş tanrı Zeus’a kurban etti. Kurban edilen Kutsal Koç’un postu “Altın Post” olarak adlandırıldı ve derisi Kolkhide Kralı Aietes’e armağan edildi. Aietes, kendisine armağan edilen Altın Postu, savaş tanrısı Ares’in koruluğunda bulunan bir ulu meşe ağacına astı.
