The lake that is open to large ships by way of Orhançay and Simav lakes is 28 kilometers to the Marmara Sea. This lake is packed with small sailboats and scullers the main occupation of which is fishing. The soft meaty, tasty fish found abundantly in the lake are in demand at the marketplaces of Turkish cities in Bursa, Istanbul and European side. Among these, pickerels, carps and catfish are for gourmet individuals.” (Asian Turkey book by French traveler Vital Cuinet de who visited Uluabat Lake during the 1890’s) Orhan Turhan, Gölyazı, 18.04.2017
